A CORRECTION.

'To the Editor.) Sir, —Kindly allow me space to reply to one or two statements made by Mr. E. Julian at the meeting of the Warca dairy factory suppliers held on Monday last, and wliich, owing to the anxiety of two or three to speak at once from the extreme back of the hall, I did not catch. The statement that at a patriotic meeting, when asking for subscriptions, I said that shareholders of the company as shareholders would not be asked to contribute is perfectly correct, and occurred very soon after the commencement of the war, when asking for subscriptions for the Belgians; but surely such a promise should not be stretched to cover all time and all calls for assistance that might arise in the future. The second statement that I headed the list with ten guineas and said that if two" others would give ten guineas each I would double mine, but that, although two others liad given ten guineas er.ch, I had not doubled my contribution, is utterly incorrect. My offer was ten guineas or twenty, if two others would do the same, or as an alternative an acreage payment, as stated by Mr. Corbett. Beyond stating these bare facts I do not intend to go, or my feelings might lead me too far.—l am etc., JAMES BURIiESS, Warea, March 14, 11)10.
