NEW PLYMOUTH RETAINS - BANNER. Tho contest for the Taranaki Banner that took place yesterday afternoon on the! New Plymouth green between the. holders (New Plymouth) and Hawera, resulted in Hawera again failing to secure the trophy. Play was keen and exciting, as until towards the close of the game there wag room for Hawera to secure victory, but Hall's great lead gave his club such a decided advantage that it more than made up for deficiencies at other rinks. The fact that there was, on the aggregate, only nine points difference proves that the teams were fairly evenly matched, and that the play was good all round.
