AN OLD MAN'S DEATH By Telegraph.—Press Association. Paliktua, Last Night. A Pangaroa identity named Joh* Fitzgerald, ovei ninety years of ag» ( an Imperial Army and Maori war pun* sioner, succumbed at the hospital to injuries sustained in a trap accident. Fit*gerald was in the nabit of walking to Pongaroa township, seven miles away, A week ago, whilst returning home, he was given a ride by E. Walker. The trap capsized on a bank, where, it. is allowed, the occupants remained all night. A few days later another®, settler discovered Fitssgeraid in a helpless condition alone at Walkers' wbare. A post mortem was hold, and the doctor attributed death to dislocation of th« ncok. The inquest was adjourned A TROOPER DROWNED, i By Telegraph.—Press Association. Oamaru, Last Night Trooper Kelly, of the Eleventh Rel8» forcements, on final leave, was drowned while bathing in the Kakanui River.
