THE RECRUITIXC QUESTION. Times and Sydney Sun Services. London. March 14. The Times' correspondent at Toronto states that at a recruiting meeting Lord »Sliaughnessy (president of the Canadian Pacific Railway) was opposed to raising a Canadian army of 500,000 men, on the grounds that it would cause undue interference with agriculture and industrial affairs. Colonel Hughes (Minister of Defence) vigorously dissented. Another speaker proposed an antirecruiting resolution, but was greeted with hisses, and the chairman ruled that it could not be moved.
