A cablegram that was received by the Prime Minister to-day stated that the -Tonnage Committee had arranged to allot eight refrigerating steamers to Now Zealand tor loading during May, and eight steamers would be available during April also. The average capacity of these vessels would'be about 100,000 carcases-. The freezing works throughout the Dominion had informed the Imperial Supply Branch, in response to inquiry on the point, that they expect there will be 484,000 quarters of beef available for the purposes ef the Imperial Government during the next three months. This quantity is unexpectedly large. _ All beef exported from New Zealand is taken for army purpose*.
