LAND FOR SOLDIERS.
A DIFFICULT PROBLEM. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Wellington, March 8. A cablegram mentions a statement by the Colonial Secretary in the House of Commons to the effect that the Dominion Prime Ministers are being approaohed by the Imperial Government "with a view to the adoption of a comprehensive scheme of land settlement in England, Australia and Canada for the benefit of ex-soldiers and ex-sailors, HBHBHHRHHHHBBBBBI' II HHHHHHH9Hv d ■HBHHHHBHIH Sj^H^nKßHHiHH^B^^^HH r ' HH9^HHflHH^BHH^ffl ta power. ''Moat of the applications that are coming to hand are from men who have had previous experience of country life, either agricultural or pastoral. Today I had an application for land from a New Zealander who enlisted with the Australian Forces, was wounded at the front, and wishes now to settle in his own country. A ;:ase of this sort was not contemplated when the special legislation was passed, but I am endeavouring to make suitable arrangements far the mail."
