STRATFORD.

BOROUGH COUNCIL AND ELECTRIC LIGHT A DEADLOCK. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Stratford, Yesterday. The Borough Council and Electrical Supply Company met in conference last evening to complete final arrangements re the purchasing of the company's undertaking by arbitration. Every' clause was agreed to except the last, and that was in regard to the legal expenses of the company in connection with tie negotiations. The Company contended that the Council should bear the whole of these expenses, while the Council would only agree to a, certain sum being named, the Company to pay any sum further. Neither side would give way, and consequently the conference adjourned. It is to bo hoped the deadleelc will be settled, as it would be a pity if negotiations failed through the lack of a little give and take on both sides. PERSONAL Mr. T. Kennedy, of Dargaville, who was a well known business man in Stratford some 20 years ago, is visiting Stratford, and is more than surprised at the great changes made since he last saw the town.
