At the Police Court yesterday, before Mr. A. Crookc, S.M., William Buckley was charged with fighting in Brougham street last Saturday night, while his opponent in the contest, William Allen, also appeared to answer a similar charge. Allen pleaded guilty, but Buckley (for whom Mr. A. C. Lawrcy appeared) entered a pica of not guilty. After hearing the evidence the Magistrate said Allen was perhaps the aggressor, and he was fined £l, while Buckley was fined 10s. Speaking at the send-off given at Toko to Mr. J. B. Hine, M.P., Dr. Paget, after being absent from the hall for a few moment, returned and related the following to those present:—''A friend of mine who was resting in my car said that while we were in the hall two men came along, and after listening to the speeches, one of them said. 'Let "Charlie'' (referring to Sergt. Fincham) go, it is too d—— dangerous for me!'" Dr. Baget, continuing, said: "I do not know who the men were, but if you find out, make it too d dangerous for them to stay in Toko!"
