GOVERNMENT INDICTED, GALLIPOLI A HUMILIATING FAILURE. Received March 8. 12.55 a.m. London, March 7. Mr. Oliver, whose book, "Ordered by Battle," is now in its twenty-fourth thousand, haß issued a new introduction, which is an outspoken indictment of the Coalition Government and Mr. Asquith's method of war-making. He instances the hasty impulse wherewith the Gallipoli campaign was launched. This was one of the greatest and most daring feats »n British history, and seldom has the gallantry of troops been more conspicuous, but the expedition was improperly supported. The Government survived the failure because the nation had become habituated to misfortune and tragedies. One aspect of the whole affair was that England had been dragged So low by politicians that she was piepared to accept, or even welcome, an unparalleled and humiliating failure. N.Z. TUNNELLING CORPS. MESSAGE FROM LORD KITCHENER. Received March 7, 10.10 p.m. London, March 6. Sif Thos. Mackenzie visited Falmouth and found, with a few exceptions that the New Zealanders' Tunnelling Company are in good health, and those in hospital arc only suffering from minor illnesses. The majority will rejoin their units this week. Sir Thos Mackenzie read Lord Kitchener's message, to give his best wishes to the New Zealanders, saying that he was sure they would uphold the Anzttc traditions. LORD FISHER. London, March 6. The Daily Chronicle states that the Government intends to use Lord Fisher in a new capacity, possibly as a member of the War Council. FEMALE EMPLOYMENT. ' London, March 6. Messrs Runciman and Samuel are appealing to employers to allow women to replace men. They point out that women are the enly source to draw from, as the army is absorbing the men. A board has been appointed to advise the Board of Trade and Home Ofßee on the question of female employment.
