RECRUITING SCHEME.
ACildN BY TARANAKI COUNTY COUNCIL. Recruiting was the subject of a discussion at tiie inciting of the Taranaki County Council yesterday. Several letters, the contents of which have already been made public, wore received from the l!ecruiting .Board. Cr. Laurence thought it behaved every councillor to give the authorities all the support in their power to procure eligible men. The chairman said it was suggested that the Council should be formed into a recruiting committee. He did not agree with the idea of speeches at public meetings, but much could be done by dividing the county into districts and ascertaining what men in each district were eligible. He suggested that each councillor should get a man from his district to assist on the committee. It was decided that the Council should be formed into a Taranaki County "Recruiting Committee, with power to add to its number. Mr. .T. Brown was appointed chairman, and Mr. R. Ellis will act as secretary.
