THE TRAMS.
SERVICE PROBABLY STARTS THIS ' WEEK. A temporary tram service will prebably be inaugurated in New Plymouth within tlio next few days. Mr" H. H. Sharp (Public Works Department, Stratford), Mr. G. Parry (Government electrical adviser), and Mr. F. Black (consulting engineer to the New Plymouth Borough Couneil), arrived in New Plymouth by the mail train last night, and to-day they will carry out an inspection of the tram route. If the work is passed the Council will be able to start the service, and, everything being order, the trams may commence running on Thursday. The temporary service will be between Fitzroy and the railway station, at intervals of fifteen minutes during the busy hours of the dajl, with a half-hourly service during the slack periods.
