Jacob Rosenbauni and Isaac Goldberg enlisted on the side of the Allies in Hie 'ar with Germany. In an engagement uoth were captured and held in "a German prison camp. Kosenbaum wrote to his mother as follows: Dear Mother.—lsaac and I are here safe and have come out without a scratch yet. We have both been taken prisoners already and are now in Gcrany. These Germans arc line people; ...ley give us lots to eat and lota to drink, and lots to smoke. They are awful kind, everybody treats us fine. If I ever .did know they were so fine I never would have fought again them, and, believe me, I never will again.
