In view of Germany's distorted interpretation of the British Admiralty instructions to armed merchantmen in regard to self-defence, issued in October, 1015, the Admiralty has published a text of instructions, clearly emphasising the right of merchantmen to fight in selfdefence, which is recognised in international law and is also expressly admitted by the German prize regulations issued in June, 1914.
