Sydney, March 3. Replying to questions regarding the holding up of stocks of bran and pollard Mr. Hall stated that millers would like to find buyers. The Government proposed to raise all embargoes and permit the export of produce anywhere rather than restrict it in the way suggested. Melbourne, March 3. Mr. Pearce sympathised with a miners' deputation regarding the distress at Newcastle caused by the coal embargo and promised assistance, although interference with the industry was one of the unexpected results of the war. The Treasurer has decided to permit a limited export of gold. SLUMP IN RECRUITING. Melbourne, March 3. There is considerable comment at the slump in recruiting. Mr. Pearce states that the facts regarding enlistments are incomplete, and there is good reason for not publishing them yet. He opines that the number required will be obtained voluntarily. 'A DEMAND FOR COMPULSION* Perth, March' 3. The annual conference of the Liberal League urged a systematfsation of recruiting.
