SEWTON KING'S REPORT, vtOn Monday, 14th inst., at my Doujjas yards, I had a very heavy entry, with a. good attendance of the public. Bidding throughout was good, the majority of the yarding being cleared during the day at most satisfactory prices as fol-lows:—20-month heifers £3 3s to £3 12s, 20-month steers £3 16s 6d to £4 18s, 2 to 2y,-ycar steers £5 16s 6d to £7 2s, 3>/ 2 -year bullocks £lO 7« to £l2 9s, bulls £5 12s 6d to £9 15s, stare cows £4 9s to £6 7s (according to frame), forward cows £6 15s to £7 I4s,' fat cows £8 4s to £9 17a, fat heifers £S 4s to £8 10s, lambs 12s 5d to 14s Bd, culls Ss 9d to lis, 2-tooth wethers 20s 10d to 235, fat ewes 22s 4d, 2, 4 and C-tooth wethers 22s iOd, mixed sheep 20s 3d to 22s Bd, f.f.in. ewes 183 7d to 20s, others 14s 7d to 16s 4d. At Stratford en Tuesday, loth inst., for my annual sheep fair and fortnightly -cattle sale there was a full yarding of both classes, with good bidding for moat lines, gales being made as follows:—Mixed weaners 33s to 38s. 20-month heifers £3 Ss to £3 15s. 20-month steers £4 4s to £4 14s, rough £S 12s, bulls £4 15s to £9 ss, springing "heifers £6 5a to £7 10s, 2 to 3-year steers £5 3s Cd, store cows £4 to £6 3s fid, forward cows £0 12s Od to £7 15s, fat cows £8 12s to £ll 4s, 2-tooth wethers 22s 2d to 22s 8.1, fat ewes 22s 5d to 235, good lambs 15s to Ms 7d, fair 13s, culls 9s Sd, 6-tootli and f.f.m. ewes 20s 9d, f.f. ewes 19s 7d, f.m. ewes 14s lOd to 18s. At Pohokura on Wednesday, 16th inst.. On Thursday, 17tli inst., at Strathmore. I lipid a clearing sale on accsunt of Mr. Calvert, Buyers were present in good numbers, making keen competition for everything offered. Woolly lambs made 10s 6d. f.f.m. ewes 19s anil 20s. shorn lambs 12« 3d, 2 and 4-tooth wethers 22s Od to 245, 9-year marc and foal £2O, fat cow £9 10s, store cows £5 5a to £6, dairy cows £5 15a to. £9, small in-calf heifers £3 12s. On the same day at Awakino for my annual sheep fair and cattle sale I had a full yarding of sheep and cattle.' The attendance of buyers was right up to the usual standard at these yards, and a most satisfactory sale was held, the whole of the sheep and practically all tlie cattle being cleared at the hammer. Some exceptionally fine pens of bullocks were yarded from the local country and Muhoenui, and there were keenly com-

peted for. Buyers from the Wnikato end were present and operated freely for sheep, but in most cases the Taranaki enquiry was too strong, most of the lines frilling to local buyers. At Okan on Friday for my sheep fair and cattle sale I offered one of the biggest yardings seen ia these yards. [ 1 had a full yarding of sheep, my yarding accommodation not being .able to hold the entry. Cattle were in fair supply* There was a record attendance of buyers from all parts of Taranaki, and at the close of tin rtoy the opinion was freely expressed that "this was the best sale held in the district for years. Messrs Cleland Bros.' annual draft of 1012 two-tooth wethers', made 23s and 22s 7d, and their 830 four-year-old ewes made 22s 4d and 225.
