Massey):— 3 ''The Recruiting Board is advised py the Defence authorities that the return* np to Saturday last show that the infantry quota for the 14h Reinforcemens for No. 8 Group of the Wellington Military District, with headquarters at Hawera, is 22 men short. The Board urgently appeals to the committee* organised in the group areas to use' their utmost endeavors to see that the quota for the 14th Reinforcement* goe» toi camp at its full strength. There is an excess of men for all other branch*! ol tue service," THE RECRUITING SCHEME. BOROUGH COUNCIL'S SUPPORT. . The Recruiting, Board's scheme was discussed at a meeting of the Works Committee of the Borough Council hub night. v . After a brief discussion it was deckled that the Council is prepared, to the best of its ability, to assist the Government in endeavoring to provide the necessary reinforcements for the Eipeditionarj] Force. AUCKLAND'S BIG SHORTAGE. ,' Recruits are urgently wanted in onflf that Auckland's .March quota may bo nude up -(says Tuesday's Auckland Star). Siu hundred men are due to leave on Tuesday next as Auckland's quota ; of the Fourteenth Reinforcements. to date 480 men only are available, and on present indications, unless there is * remarkable improvement, the Auckland draft for the Fourteenths will leave on Tuesday next lamentably abort of jty§ full strength.
