DOMINION'S PART.

MARRIED SOLDIERS. INCREASE IN ALLOWANCE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Yesterday. Tlie Defence Minister informed a Post reporter that tiie Cabinet torday had derided that an increase of the separation allowance of married soldiers with families had been agreed to, and that in addition to one shilling per day allowance already given for wives of soldiers, sixpence per day for each child under 16 years of age (up to the maximum of four children) would also be madd. Therefore the pay of a soldier with wife and four children would be eight shillings a day which is the same maximum as tliat in Australia. The new scale would be retrospective, and the Minister hoped that those to whom it would be due would recognise that it' would take some little time to get back payment sheets made out. "I make it plain," said Mr. Allen, "that this is not done now as a special inducement tn married men, but to put them in a better position to go if they feel in earnest. We'don't «iirit to eheonragc a man with more than four children under 18 to go through the course. They are at liberty to do so if they think lit." *EW COMMISSIONS. Wellington, Yesterday.
