Discharged soldiers desiring to settle on the land have warm friends in the Wellington Land Board. At the meeting of the Board last week, the Commissioner stated that the men who Had fought for their country and flag we** entitled to every consideration when applying for land,. A statement had been made in Auckland to the effect that the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act was unworkable. He held that it was a very good and workable Act, and so far as he could see at present was ali that could be desired. The Board should in every case give soldiers assistance. Mr. Georgetti concurred. He held that all discharged soldiers were entitled to the utmost consideration when applying for land. The Board should not put these men off from time to time, but arrive at a definite understanding in the matter, because as time went on there would bo numerous applications from soldiers returning In increasing numbers from the front unfit for further service.
