TEMPORARY SERVICE QUESTION. The Tramways Committee of the Borough Council met last night. Present: The Mayor (chairman), and Councillors L. M. Monteath, J. S. S. Medley, J. Hayden, F. E. Wilson, W. A. Collis, VV. P. Short, F. J. Hill, S. ,T. Smith, E. OJr.Tiths, J. T. Munnix, and A. E. Watkins. - ( The tramways engineer (Mr. R. H. Bartley) reported that he had conferred with Mr. F. Black (the consulting engineer) in regard to the question of running a temporary tram service. It had been arranged to endeavor to get the Public Works Department to inspect the line fromJFiUroy to the vailway station on March 7, and if the work is passed steps will be taken to arrange a temporary service over this route. Mr. Bartley proposed that the service should be a fifteen-minutes one. Provided everything is in order the temporary service should be in operation in about three weeks' time.
