The Paloona sailed from Wellington for Melbourne at 5.20 p.m. yesterday. AMERICAN AND AUSTRALIAN LINE Advices received state that the American and Australian liner Dongara left New York on February 12 for Auckland and Wellington, via Australian ports. She is expected to arrive here about April 30. The Toromeo, of the same line, left New Lork on February 20. After working Australian ports she will come to New Zealand, lo'ading at Lyttelton and Dunedin only.
ESSEX FOR WAITARA. The V. and S. liner Essex was to leave Whangarci on Saturday for Waitara. After loading there she will go to Wellington, being due there about March 0. NEW OIL STEAMERS. It is reported that the Vacuum Oil Company reiently placed orders with the Harian and Tlollingsworth Corporation, of Wilmington, for the construction of an oil-tank steamer of 50,000 barrels capacity, to be built on the Isherwood system, and a cargo steamer of 3500 tons capacity, and with the Union Iron Works, San Francisco, for an oil-tank steamer of 75,000 Barrels capacity, to be-constructed on the Isherwood system.
