OPUNAKE. (From Our Own Corespondent). The Harvest festival in connection with the Presbyterian Church was held last Sunday. The Rev. R. Welsh canducted the service, delivering an excellent sermon. The church was decorated for the occasion. On Monday afternoon and evening a sale of produce was held. The auctioneer, Mr. M#rri», oi the Farmers' Co-op. Society, disposed of the articles in the evening, which realised £26 10s. Messrs Deegan (Arawhata road) and Mills (Oaonui) are reported to have sold out. There are a number of other farmers desirous of obtaining the flow of money that seems to be on the float from native sources. The last stock sale showed a decline of £1 per head on big stock and a proportionate drop on young stuff. It is reported to he due to export buyers not operating. ;Prol>ably the lack of shipping accommodation has also something to do with the decline in prices. Sickness is at prevalent here as in other place*, and the womenfolk in the home have a busy time nursing the children that are suffering from measles or the numerous other complaints. The Opunake Racing Clug have accepted private offers for most of the racecourse privileges this season. The ground and buildings have had a number of substantial improvements added since last meeting. The county road roller has been put ovtfr the course. The Manaia Bowling Club played a fonr-rink match against Opitnake on the letter's green on Wednesday and were successful in winning bv five points. Opunake streets are at present well patronised by natives interested in the Land Court and land agency, Prominent among the natives are land agents, who have had a little flutter in la'nd deals lately, One prominent native is reported to have cleared over £SOO by finding sellers and purchasers.

Holmes, second daughter of Mr. D. M. Holmes of Pihama. was united hv the Rev. 0. S[. Stent to Lance-corporal Sutton (a returned trooper). Several returned troopers paticipated at the function. After the wedding ceremony the party ami friends were sumptuously entertained by Mr. and Mrs. Holmes at the homestead. YS'aitino road. At the S.M. Court on Thursday, the Magistrate, Mr. A. f'rooke. gave judgment in the ease tt. King v. the Opijnalce Dairy Company. The ease >vas lieard at last Court, day. The plaintiff (King) sued the defendant company for £l4. retained for shares, which lie contended the company had no pswer to stop, as their articles of association were obsolete, and did not give the directors sucli power. The company relied on the receipt gi v#>n by plaintiff to retain the shares from lus milk cheque. Plaintiff pleaded against this that he objected to the money being kept for shares, and that he Was told that unless he signed the receipt he would not get the cheque. Judgment was given for plaintiff for the full amount claimed (£l4) and 15s Court, costs, nnd solicitor's fee £1 "s. Mr. flow appeared for plaintiff and Mr, Marshall for defendant company. The following debt cases were dealt with:— H, ITeissenbnttle v. A. K. Adims, judgment for plaintiff for £5 Is fid, costs £•2 8s; Reynolds and Taylor v. W. C. Sangi, £5 ss, costs ISs; same v.
