RAILWAYMEN'S TROUBLES.
what the shilling increase MEANS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Hamilton railway trouble was mentioned to Hon. W. H. Hemes at Prankten, but he refused to add anything ta what had already been said. The Premier had said that the matter was one for Cabinet to decide, and he would not commit himself on the matter, above commenting that, an all-round increase of one shilling meant an additional annual expenditure of two hundred thousand pounds, which course would have to be met somehow, whether by additional taxation or not. The danger was, he added, that if the demands were conceded a similar action in regard to the remainder of the public service would probably occur.
