BOARD OF AGRICULTURE.
PHOSPHATIC MANURE IMPORTS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. In reference to the reported commandeering of the steamer used to convey phosphate rock from the Pacific Islands to New Zealand, it was decided at the last meeting of the Board of Agriculture to point out to the Government (hat if this steamer was withdrawn from the service it would mean that practically no phosphatic manures could bo imported, as basic slug and superphosphates are increasingly difficult to obtain. The necessity for the retention of Nelson as a grading and inspecting port for the evport of fruit was brought under the notice of the Minister for Agriculture, who stated that regulations had been published, but he did not think they would be enforced during the coming export season.
