FIRE BRIGADES' CONFERENCE.
AXXCAL GATHERING AT WESTPORT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wc>(port, Last Xight. About 140 delegates were present at the opening sitting nf the United Fire Brigades Conference to-day. The report slated that 336 members had enlisted during the year. Of those 3S bad been killed. 3 are missing, 1 is a prisoner at Constantinople, and !12 arc sick and wounded. A substantial collection was made amongst the delegates for the prisoner at Constantinople, who is Fireman Slicebrigge, of the Feilding brigade. The delegates received a hearty welcome from the Mayor and Councillors arid the Citizens' Committee. A number of festivities and motor drives have been ararnged. The president, Superintendent Campbell (Timaru), thanked the Mavor for the welcome.
