THE MOEWE. TRICK, IF TRUE. London, Feb. 20. It is stated in Liverpool that the Germans built the Ponga and sister ships for the banana trade from the Cameroons. In the interests of German shipping and public order, the Nord-Deutschei-Lloyd Company has obtained permission not to hold its annual meeting and not to publish its balance-sheet. , SHIPOWNERS' HUGE PROFITS. London, Feb. 20. ■ The Clan Steamship Line paid a dividend and bonus equivalent to 30 per cent., compared with 10 per cent in 1915. The More Line dividend was 25 per cent., compared with 12% per cent, last year. The profits amounted to £3*4,248, and exceeded the paid-up capital. The Statist estimates that Shipowners' net gains for the last year were 575 per cent, higher than for 1013, after paying half of the surplus to the Treasury.
