TEMPORARY SERVICE QUESTION". The question ot running si temporary tram service between Fitzroy and the railway station was discussed at the meeting of the Tramway Committee of the Borough Council last night. , The engineer (Mr. Bartley) was empowered to confer with the consulting engineer (Mr. F. Black) as to whether such a service should be run until the full service il introduced. In reply to Cr. W. A. Collis the Mayor said that the portion of the machine>7 still required to enable the tram service to run was the battery. This had not yet arrived from England, but a table had been sent asking for information. The Mayor added that there was a great difficulty in getting machinery from Home, in view of the conditions exist|ing-.
