LAND FOR SOLDIERS. THE COMMONWEALTH SCHEME Received Feb. 20, 11, JO p.m. Melbourne, Feb. 18, A conference has adopted a ncliema for settling returned soldiers on th» land, based on tbe 'War Committee's proposal, which includes that the Federal Government shall provide the neceS" sury funds in the sliape of loans by the various States. The money will be advanced to applicants at an interest not exceeding 'i% per cent for the first year, and increasing one-half per cent. each subsequent year till the full current rate is reached, with special liberalisation for repayment conditions. In order to provide for subsidiary requirements the public arc invited to subscribe in cash or kind to a spscinl repatriation fund for soldiers who enlisted but were not sent to the front, but who will be given the same privileges as returned men. The scheme also proposes for the immediate establishment of training farnu a»d .special liberalisation.
