GENERAL CABLES.
STRANDING OF THE SOCOTEA. By Cable.—Press Association—Copyright London, Feb IS. In the inquiry into the stranding of the Socotra the judgment stated that it was due to the master's neglect to take adequate steps to ascertain and verify the position of the vessel and to his lint, leaking allowances for tides and currents or making intelligent use of soundings. The captain, however, had it good record, and his certificate would therefore be suspended for six months only.
