FOOTBALL.
A well-known Wairarapa Rugby footballer, "Pat" O'Leary, a brother of "Joe" O'Leary (the Wellington, Auckland, and New Zealand representative), and of Humphrey O'Leary (New Zealand University representative), died in Masterton a few day* ago. He had been seriously ill for some time. He was only 33 years old. Pat O'Leary was considered to be the finest five-eights Wairarapa had had for many years. He was a member of the Masterton Club when that team's backs included "Joe" O'Leary, Edgar Wrigley (New Zealand representative and subsequent- Northern Union player), and Davy Logan and Alick Miller (Wairarapa representatives),, and there were several representative players in the forwards. In 1905 the Masterton Club won the senior championship of Wairarapa with a fine record; it won all Us nine matches, and scored 105 points, and had only 11 points scored against it. "Pat" O'Leary played in the Wairarapa representative team in many matches.
