CROQUET.

NEW PLYMOUTH DEFEAT STRATFORD. A team of Stratford ladies visited New Plymouth and played a return match on the local Club's courts. As the visitors arrived by car, play was able to commence at 9.30 a.m., and continue till 6.15 p.m. New Plymouth winning by a considerable margin in both singles ar r l doubles. The last ,proved much tGo strong for the visitors, single was unfinished. The totals were: New Plymouth 283, Stratford 158. In doubles, Stratford never won a game, and only were successful in one instance in the singles. In two other games they were only beaten by very narrow margins after exciting finishes. .The visitors were hospitably entertained by the New Plymouth ladies. Detailed scores:— double:;.
