WORK OF THE BOARD SPEEDING UP RECRUITING (From Our Own Correspondent.) Wellington, Feb. 9. The members of the Recruiting Board very pleased with the progress of their operations. It is true that several local bodies have refused to take part in the new recruiting campaign, but the vast majority of the persons approached by the Board have hastened to express their readiness to help in every way in their power. The recruiting committees are coming into existence quickly in all parts of the country, knd when the Government Printing Office has com f : pleted the printing of the alphabetic*::/ lists of men of military age for the use of the committees the scheme will be fairly on its feet. It may be mentioned, by the way, that the Board does not expect the local bodies to take over the actual work of securing recruits; their duty is to form organisations capable of doing the work, and though the members of the local bodies probably will wish to share the labor, they naturally will secure the co-operation of many other persons in their districts. The Board is counting upon the loyal assistance of the existing recruiting organisations.
