WOUNDED SOLDIERS' FUND.
PATEA'S ACTION. At a meeting of the Patea Patriotic League oa Friday last (reports the Press) it was decided that Patea adopt the method of straight-out giving, and that the districts to be canvassed be Patea, Manutahi, Ilurleyville, Kakaramea, Opakn and Whenuakura. The following committee was appointed:—Messrs L. Hamilton, Manutahi; G. V. Pearcc, Kakaramea; A. E. Washer, Alton; D. Hurley, junr., Hurleyville; E. Derrett, Whenuakura; T. Turner, Opaku; C. S. Fleming, Patea; G. H. Stephenson, Patea; C. A. Lareombe, Patea. It was unanimously resolved that the .various dairy companies in the district be approached without delay and asked to assist the committee in their efforts. fMr. R. Hamilton, senr., wrote forwarding a cheque for £SOO to the fund. Other donations received are: G. V. Pearce, £IOO, A. T. Christeasen £SO, J. M. Gibson £SO. A meeting of the committee is to be held on Thursday.
