WHARF LABORER KILLED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Aucklnnd, Yesterday. David Walker, aged 55. a wharf worker, was killed this morning while carrying Hour on a steamer. Ho fell between the vessel and the swinging piles. His head wns terribly crushed and deatfi was instantaneous. EXPLOSION OF KEROSENE. Christchurch, Yesterday. An explosion of kerosene last night followed by a fire seriously damaged the Sumner pumping station. Winter, the assistant-engineer, who was on fire from head to foot, plunged into the river and ••leaped, but was seriously injured p.nd had to be taken to the hospital. A big store of kerosene was destroyed.
