An arrangement by which some of tht returned soldiers now in New Zealand may secure commissions with llhe reinforcements was explained..to, a re« porter by tho Minister for Defence. "We have derided to collect name* of possibly suitably men here and send tliein to the General for his decision," he said. "Returned non-coms, who desire to secure commissions and aiss privates who may think they are able to qualify for commissioned rank, are invited to send applications to the Defence Department in New Zealand. Applications will be referred to the General Officer Commanding and he will select six men per month for commission*, Certain conditions may he laid down, It must be clearly understood that ftp! plicants should be only those who feel that they have some right to he considered in the allocation of commissions. AH applicants will require to be medically fit and some men may require extra training before (hey leave New Zealand with reinforcements, though they stay not be required to take the full usual course.
