BEACH ACCOMMODATION.
To the Editor. Sir,—The popularity of our foreshore is increasing by leaps and bounds, and on Sunday there were literary thousands enjoying a dip and rest on the sands right along the front, from the Waiwakaiho to Paritutu. On the Ngamotu beach the bathing houses were quite overwhelmed, hundreds of bathers either having to wait or undress in the lupins. Complaints were made that there was not enough accommodation for bathers, and why did not the committee build a pavilion, tea kiosk, shelters, etc.? Well, Sir, do these sort of things grow out-of. the sand?. The public of New Plymouth who use the beaches evidently think so, for the 000 persons who used the bathing houses on Sunday placed the large suni of Is 3d in the collecting boxes, the coins bein" a shilling and a threepenny piece. If the people who growl will come along and help in the work of improving the facilities they will be received with open arms, as the Ngamotu Committee, whose numbers never exceeded ten, have not received more than £5 in donations since its inception. Rome was not built in a day.—l am, etc., J. W. HAYBEN.
