WAR PENSIONS.
THE CLAIMS TO DATE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Jan. 27. Twenty-eight claims were dealt with •at the meeting of .the War Pensions Board this week, 17 from soldiers and 11 from dependents. Seven soldiers were granted pensions, and six allowances. One application was declined and three applications wore held over. Nine persons were granted to dependents, one claim was rejected, and ono withdrawn. Of seven soldiers granted pensions, five were granted £52 a year each, their injuries being rather more severe. Among the dependents, two wives were granted the full pension, and three mothers were allowed 10s per week each; a father waa allowed 10s per week each; another mother was granted £.lO per year, and a father who had lost two sons were granted 15s per week each. A mother who had previously been granted 10s weekly had the allowance, increased to 15s weekly on the production of additional evidence. /
Up to the present time the Venslons Board had considered 205 claims from soldiers, of'which 82 pensions have been granted and 102 allowances, HI have been declined, 1.1 adjourned, and 27 are in hand; also 48.1 from dependents, of which 431 have beeu granted allowances, 30 declined, four adjourned, and 14 are in hand. The annual cost of the pensions and allowances granted up to the present is as follows: Eighty-two soldiers draw £4337; 08 wives draw £8614; 327 other dependents draw £0871: total ">O7. representing £22,822; 9S allowances total £2804.
