NEWTON KING'S REPORT. At Urenui on Monday, 24th inst., I had a full yarding of all classes of cattle, which attracted a good attendance of buyers from all parts of the district. The Mokau Coal and Estate Company, Ltd., had a special entry of 200 head of mixed cattle, including a fine line of SO 3y 2 -year bullocks. These cattle were yarded in fine order, the condition of' the whole line reflecting great credit upon the Mokau country and the careful attention that must have been given these cattle hy the manager, Mr. Jas. A. Fraser. 'Bidding for the bullocks was brisk, Mr. Chas. Solo securing the majority at £l2 15s, and Mr. '\V. Gordon Glassford the balance at£l2]3s, and the younger cattle which were passed at the hammer were quitted privately at £lO and £9. BURNSI.DE. There was a medium yarding of fair quality fat cattle for freezing, and prices were about 10s below last week's rates. Best bullocks fetched £ls 10s to £l7, extra £l7 17s (id, medium £l3 to £l4 10s, others to £l2, best cows and heifers £ll to £l2 10s, extra to £l3 17s Gd, medium £9 to £lO, others £7 to £S; store cattle—cows to £0 17s (id, steers £8 17s fid, bulls £l3 10s, heifers £7 15s, dairy cows to £lO 7s lid, calves to £3. Eat sheep—Best wethers fetched 20s 0d to 2Ste, extra 33s Gd, medium 21s to 22s od, unfinished 18s to 19s, best ewes 23s to 255, extra prime to 31s 3d, medium 18s to 19s fid, others to las. Fat iambs—There was good competition between butchers and export buyers for good quality, and prices were firm at last week's rates. Inferior lambs were not in demand, and hard to place. At Westfield on Thursday, best dairy cows and heifers brought £7 15s to £l4 Ids, others £5 to £7, empty cows £5 (is to £0 19s, bulls £6 10s to £9, the advertised ewes sold at from 17s to £1 0s 9d, the lambs, stores 10s 9d to 15s fid. Runners £5 to £S 10s, heavy suckers £3 Is to £3 lis, medium £2 3s to £2 19s, light £1 la to £2, small and fresn-dropped 4s to 17s. Sheep were penned in full numbers and sold at lower rates.
