NOTES FROM THE TIMES. CANADIAN TRADE. Times and Sydney Sun Services. London, Jan. 7. The Times' correspondent at Ottawa says that Mr. Hazen explained in the House the steps that were taken at the outhreak of war to secure the ocean transportation of Canadian products. Forty <;onimandcercd vessels were regularly carrying munitions to Britain, and arrangements were made for 1910 to transport one and a half million tons of freight. Recently three German prize vessels had been released for the Atlantic trade. Shipments from Canadian winter ports were 200 per cent, in excess of any previous year. Canadian grain carried satisfactorily, and there was little complaint. Under the circumstances it was extraordinary that the freight service had been maintained between Canada and Britain. GIFT AEROPLANES. London, Jan. 27. Official. —Mr. Bonar Law acknowledges gifts of twelve biplanes, including one from Poverty Bay, through the Overseas Club. HOMEWARD BOUND. London, Jan. 26. Mr. Fisher, in an official welcome in Toulon, stated that Australia was all ready to send a further hundred thousand troops. SUGGESTED IMPERIAL CONFERENCE. Times and Sydney Sun Services. Received Jan. 28, 5.5 p.m. London, Jan. 27. It is understood that the difficulties of administration are preventing Mr. Massey and Sir Joseph AVard coining to London, otherwise Sir R. Borden would be summoned to an informal conference. General Botha is unwilling to leave South Africa at present. A section of members of the House of Commons arc questioning Mr Bonar Law and are urging a conference, but the Government does not desire to add to the present complications unless the Dominions request it. ,
