THE TOKO SENSATION.
ACCUSED FAILS TO APPEAR. WARRANT ISSUED FOR HIS ARREST. (From Our Stratford Correspondent.) Stratford, Last Night. The Toko case has caused a sensation in the district, and to-day a large crowd appeared outside the courthouse to await the opening of the court, but they were informed that the case would be heard in camera. When it came on for hearing the police called for David Maxwell, but there was no response. Sergeant Quinn asked his Worship, Mr. W. R. Haselden, S.M., to allow the case to stand over till later in the day, in the hope that accused would appear, but later on the Sergeant informed his Worship that there was still no appearance of accused, and that he was last seen in a certain town, that need not be mentioned, yesterday. His Worship ordered a warrant for the accused's arrest.
