BOWLING CARNIVAL.
TARANAKI TOURNAMENT, SECTIONAL PLAY RESULTS. The weather yesterday spoilt play to a large extent, there being more or leas moisture falling throughout the day, but it failed to damp the enthusiasm of the bowlers. The sectional play was brought to a conclusion, leaving the intersectional matches and the final to be contested to-day, when some exciting play may be expected. Smith (Fitzroy) was the only skip who succeeded 'in emerging from the sectional play without a loss, a very fine performance. The following are the details of the play:— SECTION A (West End Green). TO-DAY'S PLAY. Tho play-off between the section loaders will start.to-day at 9 a.m. Mason and Fred Newell will play seven heads in order to decide the tie. The following are the draws for the inter-sectional play:— Johnson v. Tarrant; Smith, Abbott, ;i!ul the winner of the Mason-Newell tie, a bye. The semi-finals will start at 1 p.m., when the winner in the Tarrant-John-son game will play Abbott. Smith plays the winner of the Mason-Newell game. It is e.vpected that the final will start about 4 p.m. Mr. A. K. Smart will act as umpire.
