' ELTHAM FAVORS SCHEMA PUBLIC MEETING CALLED, ■ • j r, i SIX ARMIES PROBABLE; It is practically certain Elthftm in£ Stratford will join in the Taranaki OJ«nival and enter armies to participate in ;thc llattl* of the Bullion. There will then be six armies in the field, namely~ New Plymouth, Waitara, tnglewood, Stratford, Eltliain, and Pateft. If il probable that arrangements will be made to enable Waimato and Opunake to also enter armies. Last night Mr. W. Linta (the organiser of the Carnival), attended ft meeting of the Eltham Patriotic Committee and explained the whence. There was a full attendance of members, And .the project was welcomed by almost every speaker. While favoring the pro* ■jeet the committee thu::;;i.u it would be desirable to allow the public tt> hear the details and appoint its executive to manage the Eltham army. After a {one discussion it was decided to recomflMßa the public to enter an army, and it Wt* decided to call a public meeting for Ikes . .Wednesday night.
CAMPAIGN IN INGLEWOOD: ,' ; An enthusiastic meeting of s*in)taer»- 5, was held at Inglewood on Tuesday even- '■! ing, Mr. Seabright presiding, and after ' discussion it wan decided to hold aWjjn- •■ ming sports on Thursday, February 8, '. in the afternoon, the contests being >. chiefly for juveniles, but with one or tw* events for adults. It was also decided to hold a swimming carnival in tear, ■' junction with the Battle of the Bullion ■ at a later date, of which due Hp|iqe will be given.
