BOWLING.
TAB ANA KI TOURNAMENT. COMMENCES TO-DAY. * The eleventh annual tournament of the, Taraimki Bowling Centre commences today, and will be played on tlie three New Plymouth greens. A large number of country bowlers arrived by train last 'night in readiness for play this morning. All players are requested to assemble at the New Plymouth green at 8.40 a.m. when the opening ceremony will lake place. Conveyances will 'be provided to take players to the Fitzroy and West End greens. Play commences to-dny at II.SO o'clock, but on the. subsequent days of the tournament 0 a.m. will be the hour for starling. Two of the skips of visitng teams are unable to be present, so the following alterations will be made: Christie (St. John's) replaces Gellatly, and McGorriery (Waverloy) replaces Taylor. A special general meeting of the Taianaki delegates, bowlers, and visiting bowlers will be held in the Town Hall at 8.30 p ni. on Wednesday. In all, forty-five teams will take part, and as all the greens are in good order and playing well there should be some keen and interesting games, always provided that the weather is favorable.
To-day, sections A and B play three rounds at Fitzroy, Section C and E at West End, Section ]) at New Plymouth. There is a bye in each round. Visitors, and especially ladies, will be cordially welcomed at all the greens.
