The Government has appointed commissioners to visit the Clyde and the Tyne for the purpose of immediately carrying out the dilution of labor. EMPIRE TRADE. £• SOME STRINGENT PROPOSALS. ' London, Jan. 22. Replying to Mr. Hewins, Mr. BonaT Law said that he had informed the, dominions regarding the resolution on Empile trade passed on January 10, and that the Government was earnestly considering the whole subject. George Pragnell, the leading promoter of the Empire trade movement, emphasises Germany's enormous preparations to secure the world's trade, and strongly condemns the 'Britishers' forgetting patriotism for the sake of immediate gains. He urges the Allies to seize interned ships, thus making good those sunk; then to agree that no vessel, enemy built, ovfrned, or manned, shall enter British or Allied ports for one hundred years; also that every duty shall he equal for the Allies and double for the enemy. ROUMANIAN WHEAT. ... A BRITISH PURCHASE. London, Jan. 22. Britain has purchased ten million pounds' worth of Roumanian wheat. The Times' Balkans correspondent states that the Roumanian wheat purchased by Britain will remain in Roumania.pending the opening of the Dardanelles, and is deliverable on April 1". The greater portion of last year's crop has been sold, including half a million j tons secured by Germany. The total I amount realised was £13,800.000.
