S<mx> of the settlers in that district were far too polite to offend the susceptibilities of the budding manhood thereabout by suggesting such a thing as enlistment, but with a sincere endeavor to do something in that desirable direction, they resolved on a unique plan. It so happened that young men turned, up in (lanncls and carrying their raoquets. they found the netposts pulled up and a rather conspicuous notice-hoard 011 the court, which stated:—"Closed until after the war.''
