TERRITORIAL CAMPS.

THE NEED FOR THEM. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Yesterday. The Minister of Defence says that it is absolutely essential, on the ground of national defence, to have the customary camps for territorials. The Defence Department'!# view was that the war has increased, and not diminished, the need for these camps. Included in the number to he trained would he about 7000 who had just reached the age of 21, and it was particularly important to give tliis group some training. Another reason for holding camp's was for the selection and training of men suitable for active service as non-coms, or officers. Another reason was that territorial camps would stimulate recruiting. Every provision would lie made to meet the convenience of employers.
