IN AID OP WOUNDED SOLDIERS. kight rinks of bowlers occupied the Fitzroy green yesterday afternoon when a match was played between the New Plymouth Social Club and mixed teams from the three town clubs, resulting in a win for tlie former br )R2 to 101. After enjoying for the last few days .the pleasure of exceptional keen games consequent on the spell of fine weather, most bowlers found 'the green yesterday somewhat difficult as the rain in the morning had effected it very considerably. In spite of this drawback, and of the. sliowers during the afternoon an enjoyable, scries of games were keenly contested, but a heavy .shower put an end to play before the full number of heads were finished. The prpceeds will go to to the Taranaki Bowling Centre,'s found for wounded soldiers, and as the gross takings at 2a per .player would amountto £(! Ss, there should, after defraying the cost of afternoon tea, be an amount approaching £5 for the. fund.
