PUBLIC NOTICES. SUBSCRIBERS TO PATRIOTIC FUNDS. jJJHOULD READ the following, then ask themselves whether putting money on deposit to enrich Bank shareholders, or sending it to the front is the way to assist our brave boys. The mothers of soldiers should read Clause No. 2: WHAT IS THE Y.M.C.A. DOING? The activities of the Y.M.C'.A. may be mitnmcd up in a few lines, 1. In the Home Camps, Halls, and Marquees with all possible social advantages and privileges with, wherever possible, a secretary in charge. In the cities the Y.M.C.A. buildings, including Gymnasium, Baths, Library, Billiard Tables, etc., thrown open to all. with' a card issued broadcast: "Your uniform is sufficient, introduction." 2. On tiro troopships and in camps in Egypt, social work- providing the men with home comforts, social enjoyment, etc., keeping them out of cities like Cairo—an effort alone worth all the trouble and expense. 3. Extending the same privileges, as far as practicable, right up to the firing lines. 4. Visiting, men in Hospitals, alleviating their suffering—as far as outside assistance can—giving them whatever comforts are available,. and last, but not least, linking them up with their friends and relatives by writing letters and undertaking commissions from lads who in many cases will not see their own again. A fairly complete work which could only be done by specially organised and equipped men. These men we have, and they have done noble work, but they must have more helpers, and it is one of our foremost-duties to see that (hey get every possible Assistance. N.B. —The whole of the funds raised by the Y.M.C.A. National War Fund is used solely for the Work amongst the irooju. Mot on's penny of it is diverted to any local' work carried on ordinarily by the Associations, nor is the cost of this advertisement.
