ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
AX AUCKLAND UST. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Yesterday. A boatman named William Anscombe died in hospital from injuries sustained in falling from a ladder on the wharf. He was a widower, aged f>3, and had been employed by the Harbor Board for some years. A seaman, named Thomas Crawley, aged '2.1, whs found in (he bnrbor. The circumstances point to attempted suicide. >lc was rescued, and complained that he was not permitted to drown and asked (or a. dose of poison. He said be had been refused work and was tired of life. Alfred Richard Briggs, an elderly man, had a fall on the stairway of a restaurant, and has been admitted to the hospital with a dee]) cut on his head. He i* in a critical condition.
