TARANAKI DISTRICT COMMITTEE. The Taranaki bis trie 1. Committee met last night. Present: Messrs L. A. Nolan (chairman), F. Orboll. \V. T. Ffnokham W. 0. Phillips, .1. J!. Webster. .). Mel.eod, 0. W. Sole, (I. Eraser, A. 1!. Standish, N. King, B. H. Clianc.v, K. V .Blnndei], and W. C. Weston. Apologies tor absence were received from .Messrs. A. W. Budge, S. Pitt, and J. Gray. A trainer's license was granted to E. Croot. _ W. Oliver was granted a jockey's license. Gentlemen riders' certificates were granted to Messrs. B. Hoberts and J. L. Cramer. Two applications were referred back to the Egmont Club. TARANAKI JOCKEY CLUB The committee of the Taranaki Jockey Club then met, the same members being present. A sub-committee was appointed to arrange for furnishing the ladies' room in tho grandstand. February 5 was fi?.<ed as the day for final payment in the Second Taranaki Stakes, to be run on February 10. Transfer* for the Third Taranaki Stakes were approved as follows:—J. F. Buchanan to A. Acton-Adams, MartianHebrew Maid filly; same to G. D. Greenwood, Martian —Lovelorn filly, and Martian—Everlasting colt; J. B. lieid to "Mr. Highden," Kilbroney—Rumor filly; same to W. G. Stead, Kilbroney colt. The Railway Department wrote, stating that arrangements had been made for special trains for the February meeting. A special train will run from Wanganui to New Plymouth on "ie morning of the first day, returning on the evening of the second day. The Taranaki Agricultural Society was granted the use of the grounds for its annual show on March 1 and 2. A committee consisting of the chairman and Messrs Chancy, Weston, Sole and Fraser was set up to make arrangements for providing music "at the February meeting. It was decided to extend all privileges at the February meeting to returned soldiers and men on leave from military camps.
