Over 30.000 sandbags have been made by voluntary workers in Auckland, ami nearly the full quantity lias been started on the way to the front. The finished bags into bundles of ten each, and then pressed into bales 'containing about 250 bags. The committee is being furnished with ample supplies of material from the country districts, and is now anxious to secure the assistance of workers. The cutting and sewing of the bags proceeds almost continuously. A few people devote a little time to the work before business hours, others find time during the lunch hour to give their help, and a larger number in the evenings.
